Seven members of my family got together to attend one of the pizza making classes held at DeSano's on Burnet Rd. I'd never been there and had no idea what to expect. We were ushered into the dough room as we arrived and were greeted by our host Daisy - who was wonderful and make the entire experience very enjoyable for everyone. It started out with an appetizer pizza and salad for all to share, then tomatoes and fresh buffalo mozzarella, and then it was time to make and cook our pizzas. Each person went over to the kitchen and was given a fresh ball of dough. Daisy showed us how to knead it into a a circle and form the outer ring for the crust, then how to stretch it out and rotate it to get it to the size we wanted. We then were shown how to properly layer the cheese, sauce and ingredients. Then she had us go over to the oven (screaming hot wood burning brick ovens) while she showed us how to use the pizza peel to pick up the raw pizza and put it into the oven, as well as how to rotate it without burning the bottom (keep it in the same place - don't move it around the oven!) During my visit to Austin, I did a lot of research on Neapolitan pizza and honestly, this place ended up being the best in the city. They have three locations (I left them in the photos), and from the moment you arrive, the service is super friendly. The place has a nice Italian-inspired decoration, including a few Vespas that add a really cool touch to the atmosphere. One thing I really liked is that they use fresh ingredients, and you can truly notice the quality of the products. You can even clearly see many of the ingredients they use in the preparation. They also offer a great variety of Italian wines and Italian beer, which complements the experience very well. The pizza is made with sourdough, and you can definitely taste the difference in both the texture and flavor. I highly recommend the Bianca and the lasagna — both were outstanding. Definitely one of the best pizzas I’ve tried not only in Austin, but in Texas overall. The owners should seriously consider opening a location like this in Houston because it would easily become one of the top pizza spots in the city. DeSano ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Delicious, authentic pizza napoletana. Thin crust, fresh imported ingredients, incredible flavor combinations, and a craftsman approach to delivering a standout final product. I've tried 6 of their pizzas and the margherita has to be my favorite - it allows a few simple and high quality ingredients to shine through, especially their divine San Marzano tomato sauce and mozzarella di bufala. DeSano's big tables and big pizzas are also great for groups; everyone gets to try multiple flavors. I can't forget to mention the amazing spicy whipped butter to dip your crusts in. The chefs prepare your pizza and bake them to perfection in giant wood-fired ovens before your very eyes. This is my favorite Neapolitan pizzeria in Austin. 5/5

Really nice and spatious place to hang with friends. Pizza was ready in less than 15 minutes which surprised me and I can say thay it is traditional Italian pizza made with fresh sourdough. Taste was great. 100% recommended.

This is a solid napolitan style pizza place. Even by Italian standards this is a good pizza. At lunch there's next to no line so try going earlier versus at dinner. Prices are high but you get a quality that you pay for. There is free basil and garlic and oil avaliable after you order which is an excellent touch. I'd come back any time.
